Water rates are set by the Public Service Commission of West Virginia. Shown below is a summary of the water rates approved and effective January 20, 2006 .

Water usage is billed on a declining block schedule, based on monthly meter readings. The same rates apply for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

First 3,000 gallons is billed at $6.65 per 1,000 gallons
Next 2,000 gallons is billed at $6.24 per 1,000 gallons
Next 5,000 gallons is billed at $6.00 per 1,000 gallons
Next 90,000 gallons is billed at $5.55 per 1,000 gallons
Over 100,000 gallons is billed at $3.60 per 1,000 gallons

The minimum monthly bill is based on the size of the meter installed:

Tap Fee is $450 per service tap

Capacity Improvement Fee is $3,120 for a 5/8 inch service.

The following information is provided to answer questions you may have about your water bills.

•  Billing is monthly. Bills are processed and sent out in the mail the 3 rd week of every month (approximate date to be mailed 16 th thru 18 th of the month).

•  Bills are processed on a white bill card (postcard) with blue lettering. If you have sewer service from Berkeley County Sewer, their bills have green lettering.

•  The day we mail the bill is the Bill Due Date. You have 20 days from the time we mail the bill to pay the bill before being considered delinquent. Payment must be received by the Latest Pay Date to avoid penalty.

•  Bills will be considered delinquent on day 21 (Delinquency Date) and a Notice of Scheduled Termination of Service and Customer Rights bill card (commonly called Term Notice) will be issued on that day. Payment must be made 10 days after the Term Notice issue date to avoid termination of water service. The Term Notices are processed on a white bill card (postcard) with red lettering.

•  If you own or are purchasing the property which we are servicing, you will have your security deposit plus interest refunded to you after we have received twelve (12) consecutive monthly payments on time. If you are renting the property, which we are servicing, the security deposit plus interest will remain with your account until you no longer reside at the property, at which time the security deposit plus interest will be credited to your final bill.

•  We currently accept bill payments by cash, check, money order or credit cards (Mastercard, Visa and Discover). Please make checks and money orders payable to BCPSWD. Be sure to include your account number with your payment to ensure proper credit.

•  You may pay your bill one of the following ways:

•  At our office located at 83 Monroe Street between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM .

•  In our drop box-only available after hours and on     weekends.

•  Via Bank Internet Bill Paying Websites - you may sign on to your own banking website and pay us electronically. It will take approximately 2 days for us to receive an electronic payment, but you should check with your bank for the exact time it takes.

•  Sign up and have your monthly bill automatically debited from your checking or savings account.  Download enrollment form.

Bill Due Date The date we mail the bills

Latest Pay Date The last date that the bill may be paid without incurring a 10% penalty.

Delinquency Date The date the bill becomes delinquent-day after latest pay date.

Previous Balance The previous month's water charge.
